What I’m doing
After spending most of 2018 in West Texas working to revitalize a church, God has taken me on a new adventure in Central Florida to serve at SoftWash Systems as the North America Director of Operations. At the same time, I am continuing my work as a Leadership Coach where I get to serve with my life long friend Dr. Greg Wiens at Healthy Growing Leaders. Together, we help leaders discover their A-Game. Prior to that, over the past seven years I enjoyed launching Real Life UCF, Real Life Mount Dora, and Real Life SoDo (“south of downtown” Orlando), and re-launching Real Life Longwood. We are also enjoying an exciting new season for our family. Micah, our son, and Alyssa, his wife, live in Oklahoma City while Ashley, our daughter, lives in Edmond, OK.

Where I’ve been
By God’s grace my leadership influence crosses denominational, racial, cultural, age, educational and economic boundaries. My comfort with a blend of culture and race can be traced back to my early years. My father was an Air Force weather man who later embraced the call to preach. Because of his military and ministry career, I spent time living in various places in Europe and the Southwestern United States.
In my dad’s shadow I experienced various people, groups, and cultures; learning along the way how to cross cultural lines with the culture-crossing story of Jesus Christ. In Christ, barriers are broken down.
I gathered many life stories during my childhood and young adult years. I find great pleasure in using these stories to make God’s story come alive. I have been privileged to share in various mission points throughout the US and the world including Russia, Kazakhstan, England, and Honduras. A God-directed progression of my ministry has been coaching fellow pastors from my pool of experience. I have also learned so much from each of these men of God. I do enjoy coaching pastors and working with churches to help clarify direction for the purpose of obtaining their desired results.
Along with learning lessons about what it means to live by faith from life’s many experiences, I earned a few degrees along the way. I received an Associates of Arts degree from York College, Nebraska, and a Bachelor of Science and a Masters in Ministry from Oklahoma Christian University. In addition, as an intern/resident in The Institute of Practical Ministry in Dallas, Texas, I gained some invaluable hands-on training for which I am particularly grateful. I am also an alumnus of the Greater Orlando Leadership Foundation (GOLF).
I have always enjoyed most sports. My favorite sports team is usually the one that’s winning at the time. I joined my son in Martial Arts training and now enjoy serving as a Certified Instructor of Tae Kwon Do under David Turnbull. For a time I become reacquainted with my childhood passion of dirt biking. Favorite pastimes I enjoy with my wife, Beth, and our two children, Micah and Ashley include camping, hiking, water sports and biking at the beautiful Florida beaches or in the mountains of Georgia. Oh yes, and music. We love music. Music from the past and present. From Country to Metal (What???) to Christian to Rock-n-Roll to musicals. With the exception of opera we pretty much run the gamut with music taste.
I admit that it is a bit off of the beaten path of most favorite Bible verses. In fact, most people probably find it outright obscure.
“But we prayed to our God and posted a guard day and night to meet the threat.” (Nehemiah 4:9)
Prayer and watchfulness, faith and action describe Nehemiah’s response to intimidation and discouragement. Like Nehemiah, each of us has to find balance to contend with real life difficulties as we fulfill God’s will for our life. Faith and action create balance that brings success over challenges.
